Slow Hello is made by Urban Algorithm LLC. We built this app so that your messages stay yours. Slow Hello is a local-only app. It does not use an account, it does not connect to our servers, and it does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your information. This policy explains exactly how the app uses your device's camera, microphone, and photo library.
The short version
- No account and no sign-in.
- No analytics, tracking, or advertising.
- No data is collected, transmitted, sold, or shared.
- Everything you record is stored locally on your device.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect personal information of any kind. We do not have servers that receive your content, and we do not run analytics. Your messages, recordings, and the names or dates you enter never leave your device through Slow Hello.
Camera
The app requests camera access only so you can record a short video clip for each day's word. These clips are created at your direction and are saved on your device. The camera is never used in the background and the footage is never sent anywhere by the app.
Microphone
The app requests microphone access only to record the audio that goes with your daily video clips, since your spoken words are the whole point of the gift. Audio is captured only while you are recording a clip and is stored locally alongside the video.
Photo library
Photo-library access is optional. The app requests it only if you choose to export a finished gift video so it can be saved to your photo library. We do not read, scan, or upload your existing photos or videos. This permission is used solely to save the video you choose to export.
Where your data lives
All of your content, including your written message, the daily words, your recorded clips, and the names and dates you enter, is stored locally on your device. Because there is no account and no server, your content is only as available as your device and your own backups (for example, your device backup, if you use one).
Deleting your data
You are always in control. You can delete individual content within the app, and you can delete everything by deleting the app from your device. Removing the app removes the data it stored.
Children's privacy
Slow Hello is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from anyone. Because the app collects no data at all, no personal information about a child is ever gathered. If a child uses the app, their recordings remain only on that device.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will revise the date above. Since the app collects no data, any changes will be limited to clarifying how the app works.
